Steven C. Markoff's Book Receives BookFest Honorable Mention for International Politics

LOS ANGELES, CA, November 4th, 2026, FinanceWire

Steven C. Markoff's nonfiction book, An Improbable Solution to the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict: Historical Events, Population, Land Ownership, and Quotes From Both Sides, has received an Honorable Mention in The BookFest's Nonfiction – Politics & Government – International & World Politics category. An Improbable Solution also received a five-star rating in the adult nonfiction category from Readers' Choice Book Awards.

Published by Rare Bird on July 28, 2026, and distributed by Simon and Schuster, the 480-page hardcover examines the historical events, population figures, land ownership records and competing perspectives associated with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The book brings together historical material and documentary references covering developments from ancient history through contemporary events.

Markoff's approach organizes historical information and competing claims to give readers material for examining different perspectives on the conflict. The book also presents a proposed solution, which readers can consider alongside the historical and demographic information discussed throughout the work.

"My objective was to create a 35,000-foot view of the conflict," Markoff said. "There are countless books that argue one side or the other. I wanted readers to have enough documented information in one place to better understand the competing historical narratives, demographic realities, and legal claims that may surprise, augment, or even change readers' positions on the conflict."

The BookFest recognition was awarded in the International & World Politics category. The book also received a five-star rating from Readers' Choice Book Awards in adult nonfiction. These recognitions represent two separate forms of acknowledgment: a competition distinction and a reader-oriented rating.

The book's research-oriented approach is also reflected in its supporting material. According to its publisher's description, more than half of the volume is devoted to appendices, primary documents and reference materials. These sections provide additional historical information and sources for readers interested in examining the issues in greater detail.

Pierce O'Donnell, author of Last Pick and In Time of War, reviewed the book and described it as a compilation of historical source material.

"Once again, Steven Markoff has given us an extraordinary resource – this time a painstakingly compiled compendium of source materials on the history leading up to the conflict between Israel and Palestinians," O'Donnell wrote. He also noted the book's collection of historical facts, figures and issues spanning several centuries.

Markoff has previously published nonfiction works addressing constitutional law, public policy and American legal history. His other titles include The Case Against George W. Bush, HANDBOOK – The First 100 Years Of The ACLU: A Compendium Of Advocacy Before The United States Supreme Court, Misfire: The Supreme Court, The Second Amendment, Our Right to Bear Arms, and a separate three-volume ACLU compendium.

An Improbable Solution to the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict is available in hardcover through online booksellers and other retail channels.
