Singmed Announces Proprietary Inhalation Device Platforms to Expand China's Innovative Respiratory Medicines

Suzhou, China, July 27th, 2026, FinanceWire

Singmed today announced the growing importance of its proprietary inhalation device platform in supporting international regulatory approvals and accelerating the global commercialization of Chinese respiratory medicines, as Chinese biopharmaceutical companies continue expanding the global reach of innovative inhaled therapies.

The global pharmaceutical industry has witnessed significant growth in cross-border licensing of innovative medicines, with respiratory therapeutics among the fastest-growing categories. Because inhaled medicines depend on the seamless integration of both the drug formulation and the delivery device, successful international commercialization requires advanced device technology capable of meeting increasingly stringent regulatory standards.

Under the revised European Medicines Agency (EMA) guideline on the pharmaceutical quality of inhalation and nasal medicinal products, effective February 1, 2026, inhalation devices are recognized as an integral component of product quality, while Aerodynamic Particle Size Distribution (APSD) has been designated as a Critical Quality Attribute (CQA). These evolving standards place greater emphasis on device performance throughout the regulatory approval process.

Founded in 2016, Singmed has built a comprehensive inhalation technology platform supported by 380 patent applications, including 233 granted patents and 21 international PCT applications. The company provides integrated development services covering device platform selection, formulation-device compatibility studies, structural and airflow engineering, design verification, clinical sample manufacturing, and regulatory support for submissions in China, the United States, and Europe.

Singmed's technology portfolio spans four proprietary delivery platforms, including Dry Powder Inhalers (DPI), Pressurized Metered Dose Inhalers (pMDI), Soft Mist Inhalers (SMI), and nasal drug delivery systems. The company states that its proprietary intellectual property across all four platforms across all four platforms enables support for regulatory registration in major global markets while reducing development complexity for pharmaceutical partners.

The company's portfolio includes nearly ten drug-device combination products across both clinical-stage and commercial programs progressing through China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulatory pathways. Among Chinese developers advancing inhaled PDE3/4 inhibitor therapies for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), two currently utilize Singmed's proprietary delivery technology.

"The success of an inhaled medicine depends not only on the molecule itself but also on the device that delivers it," said Albert Zhao, Chairman of Singmed. "As Chinese pharmaceutical innovation continues expanding into international markets, robust device technology and regulatory readiness become essential to ensuring these therapies can successfully reach patients worldwide. Our goal is to provide globally competitive inhalation technology platforms that support partners throughout the product development and commercialization journey."

As demand for advanced inhalation therapies continues to increase worldwide, Singmed expects integrated drug-device development to play an increasingly important role in accelerating global commercialization while meeting evolving regulatory expectations across major pharmaceutical markets.
