Sean Kirtz Leads Lady Hammers to War of the Roses National Title

COLUMBUS, INDIANA, October 14th, 2026, FinanceWire

The Lady Hammers girls wrestling program, led by head coach Sean Kirtz, won the War of the Roses Midwest Nationals championship with a 60–18 victory over the Lady Assassins, the No. 2 team in the competition.

Held at Circle K Fieldhouse at NexusPark, the October 3rd and 4th tournament marked another major milestone for a program steadily building momentum through hard work, depth and championship-level competition.

The championship follows an impressive run of results, including a third-place finish at the Wild Wild Midwest National Duals in September and a strong showing at the August Back-to-School Duals, where Lady Hammers Black captured the championship, and Lady Hammers Pink finished third. Having two teams finish on the podium demonstrated the growing depth of Kirtz’s program.

Reghan Koch Delivers a Record-Setting Performance

Leading the charge at War of the Roses was Reghan Koch, Ohio state champion, competing at 165 pounds. Reghan pinned all six opponents she wrestled and added a forfeit, earning the maximum 42 team points. Her six pins took a combined 8 minutes and 56 seconds, with her fastest fall coming in just 21 seconds.

Her performance captured the relentless approach that powered the Lady Hammers throughout the tournament.

A Lineup Packed With Championship Talent

The Lady Hammers’ roster featured 15 athletes representing multiple states, including state champions from Florida, Oklahoma, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas and New Mexico.

The championship lineup included Rylee Beville (100), Paola Perez (105), Talli Washington (110), Tegan Robertson (115), Mabel Rogers (120), Temperance Lowe (125), Rose Karakolis (130), Brailey Jackson (135), Alexis Dubowsky (140), Kaylee James (145), Lyla Kasztner (155), Reghan Koch (165), Quisiera Wilson (175), Zeinab Mourad (190) and Caylee Rivera (235).

With state champions, accomplished competitors and depth throughout the lineup, the Lady Hammers demonstrated why they are becoming an increasingly formidable presence in girls wrestling.

Sean Kirtz: Building a Program That Keeps Climbing

For Kirtz, the championship represents more than another trophy. It reflects the culture he continues to develop. One centered on discipline, accountability, resilience and giving wrestlers opportunities to compete against the best.

From dual-tournament podium finishes to championship performances, the Lady Hammers have continued to raise their standard. Their latest victory shows that their progress is not a one-weekend achievement, but part of a sustained climb toward the top of the sport.

The Lady Hammers arrived at War of the Roses ready to prove themselves. They left as champions and with their sights set even higher.
