Relias and KVC Announce New Youth Mental Health Training Partnership

Morrisville, North Carolina, USA, June 15th, 2026, FinanceWire

Healthcare education provider and nonprofit are collaborating to train more than 400 youth-centered clinicians to tackle the rising suicide crisis.

In response to the escalating youth mental health crisis that today’s generation is facing, healthcare leaders Relias and KVC Health Systems have announced a strategic partnership that will train more than 400 specialized clinicians on identifying and responding to suicide risk among children and families. Recognizing that awareness alone cannot address the challenges facing many modern families, the collaboration was established to provide the expert intervention that vulnerable children navigating today’s increasingly overburdened healthcare landscape require.

A Focus on the Numbers

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) shows that suicide stands as the second leading cause of death for young people between the ages of 10 and 14, as well as being a global issue.

This statistic also suggests that the safety nets that have been relied on for years are under immense pressure, with the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) adding that nearly 15 percent of children ages 10–19 are living with a mental health disorder.

Specifically within the United States, the suicide rate for those between 10 and 24 has increased nearly 60 percent over the last two decades, representing a generation in need of more than just a sympathetic ear. Many require experts who know exactly how to intervene when things are at their most serious.

Training for the Real World

At the center of the initiative is the effort to equip KVC Health Systems’ workforce with the advanced tools developed and provided by Relias. The focus is not on checking boxes generically, but on using scenario-based learning and simulation training, which offers a safe space for clinicians to practice their skills. Clinicians will learn to look beyond suicide ideation to better understand the complicated histories and environments that shape a young person’s mental state.

After completing their training, the clinicians will be better prepared to identify early warning signs that might otherwise go unnoticed. In a system suffering from staffing shortages, having a large group of professionals specifically trained in evidence-based modules can make all the difference between a missed signal and a life-saving conversation.

The Minds behind the Mission

Relias has long been a staple in the healthcare world, and its platform is designed to help organizations move past traditional training by using data and performance metrics to actually improve how care is delivered to patients. For them, the partnership is an extension of their mission to make certain that every patient, regardless of their circumstances, receives high-quality care.

On the other side of the partnership is KVC Health Systems, a nonprofit that has spent over 50 years concentrating on child welfare and behavioral health. KVC has acted on behalf of thousands of families, from foster care and adoption services to inpatient psychiatric care. Together, the two organizations are combining their technical expertise with their decades of hands-on experience to create a more resilient mental health service for the next generation.
