OPmobility continues to diversify into all forms of mobility by supplying HESS with batteries for buses and tram-buses

OPmobility has entered into a long-term partnership with HESS AG, Switzerland's leading manufacturer of buses, articulated buses and trolleybuses, to supply several hundred battery packs over the next few years. OPmobility thus continues its strategy of technological and client diversification by serving players in the electric public transport sector.
As part of this collaboration, OPmobility has designed and developed for HESS a line of modular battery packs that can be adapted to different types of buses and the specific needs of end customers. Customers can request more onboard energy to increase vehicle range, or more power to enhance performance in specific areas such as mountainous regions. The batteries will notably equip a new generation of trolleybuses and TOSA buses (tram-buses) developed by HESS.
The first buses resulting from this partnership are already on the road. They will carry passengers in several European cities, notably in France, Switzerland and Italy.

Trolleybuses are high-capacity articulated buses equipped with catenaries (overhead wires) that supply them with electricity as they travel along a dedicated route. Equipped with auxiliary batteries, these new-generation trolleybuses, measuring 18 meters and developed by HESS, gain agility by being able to temporarily move away from the overhead wires.
TOSA buses (Trolleybus Optimisation Système Alimentation, or tram-buses), which are 18 to 24 meters long, are electric trolleybuses that operate without overhead wires. They are equipped with compact and lightweight batteries that are recharged at various points along the route, when the buses stop to pick up or drop off passengers. This performance is made possible by a charging speed that is significantly higher than the market standard.
