Mobit Airport Parking Launches Dedicated UK Airport Guides as Drop-Off Fees Reach £10

London, United kingdom, October 30th, 2026, FinanceWire

New guides for Heathrow, Gatwick, Birmingham, Bristol and Southampton set out 2026 drop-off charges, terminal parking options and pre-booked alternatives.

Mobit Airport Parking, the UK airport parking comparison and booking platform operating since 2017, has launched dedicated airport guides for Heathrow, Gatwick, Birmingham, Bristol and Southampton. The launch follows an RAC survey which found that 16 of 20 UK airports raised their drop-off charges in 2026, with drivers at Gatwick and Stansted now paying £10 for a short stop outside the terminal.

UK airport drop-off charges in 2026 range from £5.50 at Manchester to £10 at Gatwick and Stansted. Bristol charges £8.50, while Heathrow, Birmingham, Luton and Southampton each charge £7. Travellers who pre-book meet and greet or park and ride parking fix their parking cost before they travel, instead of paying a separate charge each time a car stops at the terminal.

Each Mobit guide brings the information travellers search for onto a single page for that airport: the current drop-off charge, terminal-specific parking options, meet and greet, park and ride, and long stay and short stay parking.

While drop-off fees have risen, the cost of pre-booked airport parking has moved in the opposite direction. Analysis of around one million bookings by Airport Parking and Hotels (APH) shows the average daily rate across 19 airports in England, Scotland and Wales fell 5.6% in June 2026, from £10.58 to £10.00. Pre-booked rates fell 5.0% at Gatwick and 7.2% at Birmingham compared with 2025.

UK Airport Drop-Off Charges in 2026

A drop-off at a UK airport now costs between £5.50 and £10, depending on the airport. Gatwick and Stansted have the highest charge at £10, followed by Bristol at £8.50. Most airports set a short time allowance, typically 10 to 15 minutes, and further charges can apply when a driver stays beyond it. Travellers who are dropped off and later collected by car can face a charge on both visits. Mobit's Gatwick drop-off charges guide sets out the current fee, the time allowed and the alternatives available at the North and South Terminals.

UK Travellers Reduce Airport Drop-Off and Parking Costs

The guides set out four practical steps for travellers who want a predictable cost:

  • Meet and greet: The traveller hands the car to a professional driver at the terminal and collects it on return, with no shuttle transfer. This suits early departures, families and travellers with heavy luggage.
  • Park and ride: The lowest-cost option. The car stays in a secure off-airport car park, and a scheduled shuttle runs to the terminal.
  • Booking ahead: Prices paid on arrival at the airport are typically higher than pre-booked rates, particularly during school holidays and the Christmas period.
  • Checking local charges: Heathrow sits inside the London Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ). The Birmingham guide explains how the city's Clean Air Zone relates to journeys to the airport.
"Drop-off charges have become a real cost of travel rather than a minor inconvenience," said Talha Al Rehman, SEO Strategist at Mobit Airport Parking. "When 16 of the 20 airports surveyed have raised their fees in a single year, travellers need clear and current information before they leave home, not at the barrier."

UK Airports: Do the New Mobit Guides Cover

The first five guides cover the following airports:

  • Heathrow: The Heathrow airport parking guide covers Terminals 2 and 3, Terminal 4 and Terminal 5 parking, ULEZ guidance and drop-off charges
  • Gatwick: North Terminal and South Terminal parking, meet and greet, valet and drop-off charges
  • Birmingham: meet and greet, park and ride, Clean Air Zone guidance and drop-off charges
  • Bristol: meet and greet, park and ride, valet and drop-off charges
  • Southampton: meet and greet, park and ride, long stay and short stay parking
"Travellers search airport by airport, and often terminal by terminal," Talha Al Rehman added. "Each guide answers the questions people ask most often: what the drop-off fee is, which terminal they need, and which pre-booked option suits their flight time and budget."
