Ken Garnett Releases BeyondChat Book on Governed AI Systems for Business

SACRAMENTO, California, October 27th, 2026, FinanceWire

Many executives who asked their teams for an AI agent got a smarter chatbot instead. In BeyondChat: Why the Future of AI Is Choreography, Not Conversation, author Ken Garnett argues that this isn’t exactly a failure of people or technology. The work was delegated without ever being properly framed.

Available today on Amazon Kindle for a limited-time launch price of $0.99, BeyondChat argues that the lasting value of business AI lies in governed, multi-step systems that complete goals rather than answer questions. In these systems, models, tools, and people each have a defined part to play. Chat windows were the on-ramp, the book contends, not the destination.

Written for the executives who decide what to build, what to buy, and what to trust, BeyondChat contains no prompts and no tool tutorials. Instead, it offers a mental model for real decisions:

  • How to tell a chat wrapper from a governed AI system
  • What to ask internal teams and outside vendors
  • Where human judgment must stay in charge
  • Where defensible value lives once AI capability becomes cheap

The book draws on documented cases from healthcare, finance, air travel, food service, and software, as well as Garnett’s own years of building and running a company. It puts 11 decisions squarely in the reader’s hands and closes with the single mandate that ties them together.

“Most AI initiatives don’t stall because the technology falls short,” said Garnett. “They stall because no one defined what the system was supposed to accomplish, who was accountable, and where people needed to stay involved.”
Early readers are taking notice. “BeyondChat is great and delivers on its title,” said David Wilson, PhD, Associate Professor of Information Systems at Brigham Young University. “The stories from the trenches are where it rises above many of the other ‘Guide to AI’ books that have been popping up.”

Dr. Frederick Jones, Esq., an IP attorney and former professor of business law and ethics, called the book “more than a book about AI” and “a glimpse around the corner,” adding that it is “essential reading” for leaders who want to get ahead of the curve rather than chase it.
