ENCAVIS acquires a high-capacity portfolio of five solar parks in Italy (265 MW)
Hamburg, 11 December 2025 – ENCAVIS, the Hamburg-based wind and solar park operator, has acquired five solar parks with a total generation capacity of 265 megawatts (MW) from EDP Renewables Italia Holding S.r.l. (EDPR Italy), a wholly owned subsidiary of EDP Renováveis, S.A. Three of the parks are located in the Lazio region of central Italy near Rome, while the other two are in the Puglia region in southeastern Italy. The transaction includes the sale of large land areas. In addition, the projects have been acquired together with various PPAs and subsidies as well as with options for capacity extension and hybridization.
Currently, the five solar parks have a combined capacity of 248 MW and are already producing green electricity at full scale. In addition, an expansion of the three Lazio parks by a total of 17 MW is underway. The commercial commissioning of these additional capacities is expected in the first half of 2026. Stern Energy, the PV technology specialists from Parma, will take over Operations and Maintenance (O&M) for this portfolio from EDPR after a six-month transition period.
“With the Giotto portfolio, we are increasing our solar capacity in Italy from 155 MW to 420 MW. This makes us one of the leading solar operators in Italy and reinforces our leadership position in Europe. At the same time, this portfolio demonstrates how successful and strategically important our cooperation with Stern Energy is: together, we are setting benchmarks for quality and growth in the solar industry,” says Mario Schirru, CEO of Encavis.
The entire portfolio will generate an average of 423 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of green electricity per year after the capacity expansion. Four solar parks are secured by Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with terms of 10 or 15 years. For the fifth project, there is a long-term bilateral Contract for Difference (CfD) with a term of 20 years.
