"SPIRIT" wins over German universities

  • 290,000 students receive free sample can in branded "campus bags
  • Future listing in student canteens and cafeterias aimed at – enabling direct access to the core target group of students
  • "SPIRIT" is already available in 4,000 food retail outlets in Germany and Austria and will soon be available in Switzerland as well

Duesseldorf, October 5, 2022 – "SPIRIT" - the core brand of the German-Swiss functional food expert Biohacks - distributes in close cooperation with CAMPUSdirect Deutschland GmbH 290,000 so-called "campus bags" to students at more than 120 universities in Germany at the start of the semester. The bags, with SPIRIT branding on the sides and each containing a sample can, are being handed out directly to the students. The campaign is the start of a long-term collaboration with the student unions. As a next step, "SPIRIT" is aiming at the listing at student canteens halls and cafeterias via the student unions. Following successful listing, the campaign will also include marketing measures such as billboard advertising, direct promotion and guerrilla marketing. In addition, a campus landing page with attractive offers such as competitions for students will go online at www.spiritgermany.com at the start of the semester.

"SPIRIT" reaches the ideal target group for the existing range of beverages via the campaign: students on average consume a lot of energy drinks, but at the same time pay attention to a sustainable lifestyle. With its SPIRITs, Biohacks is offering the ideal range for this: The basic ingredients of the drinks come from sustainable cultivation. SPIRITs are 100% organic and vegan, and they contain neither artificial ingredients nor taurine, which is known from other energy drinks and is viewed critically in larger quantities. In exchange, matcha and guarana are included, as well as caffeine derived from organic coffee.  ”SPIRIT” is produced by Voelkel (www. voelkeljuice.de), Germany's largest natural juice producer. Voelkel has a unique philosophy focused on sustainability. When it comes to raw materials, the company focuses on future-oriented, fair farming. The focus is on the use of seed-resistant varieties and the preservation of biodiversity and orchards. "SPIRIT" fully supports Voelkel's pioneering role in sustainability and the associated mission statement of the family-owned company founded in 1936: "Responsibility for people and nature".

The clear commitment to sustainability is also evident in product marketing, where "SPIRIT" is also breaking new, sustainable ground. For example, the company supports the "Partners in Environmental Protection" project, which the ARD Media Group initiated together with the climate protection company Climate Partner (www.climatepartner.com), which aims to broadcast TV commercials in a climate-neutral manner. To this end, the greenhouse gas emissions generated during production are fully offset by climate protection projects, such as reforestation of forests, both nationally and internationally.

"SPIRIT" is already listed in around 4,000 stores in Germany and Austria

“SPIRIT” aims to play a leading role in the dynamically growing functional food segment in the DACH region. The global functional food market is expected to grow by an average of 7% to 12% to more than USD 268 billion by 2027. To this end, the company is expanding strongly in the DACH region. For example, the "SPIRIT" products are already available in around 3,000 locations of retail chains such as Tegut, Kaufland, Budni and Edeka, as well as JET and Orlen service stations in Germany. In addition, the drinks will also be sold in 600 stores of market leaders SPAR International and Billa in Austria from Q2 2022. In Switzerland, the company is also in advanced talks to launch distribution with renowned partners by the end of 2022. This will accelerate Biohacks' growth path, which began in 2020. At a later date, there is an option to expand the product range and additionally introduce biohacking services.
