ZPMC Sets New Standards for Smart Port Crane Technology
Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (ZPMC) has announced the development of two industry standards for smart port equipment. The "Technical Specifications for Intelligent Technology of Quay Cranes" and "Technical Specifications for Intelligent Technology of Gantry Cranes" have been endorsed by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and will be effective from September 1, 2026.
These standards establish a technical baseline for intelligent quay and gantry crane systems, streamlining automation across port environments. They outline technical and safety requirements, and set protocols for testing and inspection, aimed at enhancing consistency in engineering and manufacturing processes.
The implementation of these standards is expected to boost the adoption of automated technologies within the port sector, improve system reliability, and provide clearer performance benchmarks for operators and port authorities. ZPMC's active participation in the development of these standards underscores its commitment to advancing port equipment technology.
