ZPMC Secures Inaugural Crane Project in Democratic Republic of the Congo

Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (ZPMC) has entered the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) market, marking its 111th international market. The company signed an agreement with DP World to supply four ship-to-shore container cranes for the Banana Port project. This project signifies a key advancement in localizing critical crane components, including electrical systems and buffers, building on the prior localization of gearboxes and lighting systems.

Banana Port, initiated in December 2021 by DP World and the DRC government, will feature a 600-meter quay and an 18-meter depth to accommodate major container vessels. ZPMC's cranes are anticipated to enhance the port's capacity, supporting it as a modern logistics hub, boosting DRC's global trade connectivity, and aiding economic growth.
