Tong Jun Dredger Successfully Completes Sea Trials
On November 25, 2025, the Tong Jun, a 35,000-cubic-meter trailing suction hopper dredger, completed its sea trials in the Yellow Sea. Built by Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC) for CCCC Tianjin Dredging Co., Ltd., the dredger was tested over five days. The vessel's performance, including propulsion and dredging equipment, met all design specifications.
Key highlights were the two 9,000-kilowatt dredge pumps, enabling long-distance slurry discharge up to 12 kilometers. The vessel's capacity to raise a football field's surface by five meters per load demonstrates its efficiency and power. The trials showcased its intelligent operation, versatility, and environmentally friendly design.
The Tong Jun, measuring 198 meters by 38.5 meters, boasts the largest hopper capacity in Asia. It integrates advanced technologies such as the One-Touch Dredging system and hybrid propulsion, and supports future methanol fuel use. Its applications include port construction and land reclamation projects.
