Germany Expands Offshore Centers in India, Strengthening ER&D and Digital Growth
German enterprises are rapidly expanding their Global Capability Centers (GCC) in India. A recent report by Zinnov, with the Indo German Chamber of Commerce, highlights significant growth in these offshore units. Over 80 German companies now operate more than 150 GCCs in India, employing over 130,000 professionals across various sectors.
GCCs are enhancing innovation and growth by leveraging India's skilled talent and efficient operations. Over the last five years, the number of GCCs from the Mittelstand has increased by 108%. They play a crucial role in global R&D and digital transformation, providing next-gen talent and a mature innovation ecosystem.
Bengaluru and Pune host the majority of AI/ML talent serving these centers. Furthermore, 57% of GCCs collaborate with Indian universities and startups for developing next-gen capabilities. German companies continue to strengthen global competitiveness and value creation through their Indian operations.
