Yunnan Power Grid Embraces Huawei's SPN for Network Evolution
On May 6, 2026, Huawei announced that Yunnan Power Grid Co., Ltd. has adopted Huawei's Synchronous Packet Network (SPN) to upgrade its communication bearer network. This transition is crucial for managing large-scale clean energy transmission in Yunnan, a southwest China region with challenging terrain.
The SPN technology is integrated into Yunnan's 14th and 15th Five-Year Plans, ensuring stability and efficiency across 16 cities. Huawei's network solution resolves the bandwidth bottleneck, boosting bandwidth up to 100 Gbit/s. This upgrade supports high-bandwidth services, improving inspection times and maintenance efficiency.
SPN also enhances intelligence in service transport, supporting diverse power services with reliable transmission and flexible IoT access. This tech evolution offers long-term value by facilitating cost-effective upgrades to higher data rates. Huawei's involvement is a significant step toward a digital and intelligent power grid in Yunnan.
