Wienerberger CEO Heimo Scheuch Resigns; Gerhard Hanke Steps In
Wienerberger AG, a prominent global provider of sustainable building solutions, announced the resignation of CEO Heimo Scheuch due to health reasons. Scheuch, who held the position for over 17 years, requested early termination of his mandate. The Supervisory Board has appointed Gerhard Hanke as Interim CEO while a search for a permanent successor is conducted.
Hanke, with over 25 years at Wienerberger, was previously CFO and is currently COO Central & East. Despite the leadership change, responsibilities for other key executives stay the same. Under Scheuch’s leadership, Wienerberger transformed from a traditional brick manufacturer to a leader in ecological building materials, expanding significantly in Europe and North America.
Later this month, Wienerberger will release its financial results for the second quarter and half of 2026. The strategic transformation achieved under Scheuch is highlighted by Chairman Peter Steiner as a remarkable achievement.
