Wicomico County awards biomethane production contract to Waga Energy
Wicomico County, Maryland, has selected Waga Energy to convert biogas from its Newland Park site in Salisbury into biomethane. Using WAGABOX® technology, the project will produce over 62 GWh of biomethane annually. This biomethane will be injected directly into the local gas grid, helping to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 12,200 tons per year, equivalent to the energy from 3.7 million liters of diesel.
This project is part of efforts to comply with new environmental regulations in the State of Maryland. The site will process 150,000 tons of waste annually, transforming it into a valuable energy resource. This initiative reinforces Wicomico County's position as a pioneer in sustainable energy solutions.
Collaboration between the public and private sectors underlines the importance of local decarbonization through renewable energy.
