Boehringer Ingelheim and WHO Foundation Unite to Tackle Obesity

Boehringer Ingelheim and the WHO Foundation have announced a global initiative to address obesity and metabolic health issues. A significant USD 5 million, pledged over three years, will support this endeavor. This collaboration focuses on integrated care for obesity and diseases such as cardiovascular, kidney, liver, and metabolic disorders, improving outcomes worldwide.

Obesity remains a major health challenge, with over 2.5 billion adults and 390 million children affected globally by 2022. The initiative aims to strengthen health systems, ensuring preparedness and comprehensive care for obesity-related conditions. It emphasizes cross-sector collaboration and patient-centered care.

The WHO Foundation will back WHO's Acceleration Plan to Stop Obesity, promoting intervention and systemic change. By linking obesity care with related diseases, the aim is to foster lasting, equitable chronic care within resilient healthcare systems worldwide.
