Wendel to Sell Stahl to Henkel for €2.1 Billion
Wendel has announced an agreement to sell its stake in Stahl to Henkel for €2.1 billion. The transaction is expected to bring net proceeds of approximately €1.2 billion to Wendel. This sale reflects a substantial return on Wendel's investment, with an annualized IRR exceeding 15% since 2006.
Stahl, known for specialty coatings, has shown strong growth under Wendel's ownership, with sales nearly tripling to €930 million by 2024. The company has also enhanced its profitability and established a strong ESG reputation.
Henkel will acquire stakes from other shareholders, including BASF and Clariant. The transaction is pending regulatory approvals and other customary conditions. This move aligns with Wendel's strategic focus on long-term investment returns and development of Wendel Investment Managers.
