Waga Energy Secures €128 Million Green Loan for European Expansion
Waga Energy, a leader in renewable natural gas (RNG) production from landfills, has announced a €128 million, 10-year structured Green Loan to enhance its European operations. This financing will be used to refinance existing WAGABOX® units and support new projects across France, Spain, and Italy. Furthermore, the funds will also contribute to upcoming developments not yet contracted within Europe.
The Green Loan, developed with a consortium of financial institutions including Crédit Agricole CIB, Société Générale, and others, will specifically target initiatives that mitigate climate change by capturing and recovering gas from landfill sites. This marks Waga Energy's first multi-country portfolio financing effort.
Jean-Michel Thibaud, Group CFO of Waga, stated that this transaction is pivotal for the company, reinforcing the confidence of their banking partners and enhancing their capacity to deploy WAGABOX® units in the region.
