Vulcan Minerals Updates on Carbonear Drilling Program in Newfoundland
Vulcan Minerals Inc. has announced the completion of the first hole in its drilling program at the Carbonear project situated in eastern Newfoundland. The program initially targeted 1,200 meters through six holes but faced suspension due to adverse weather affecting site access. The project will resume in the spring when conditions improve.
The Carbonear property is notable for its prospective late Precambrian marine sedimentary sequences. Historical and recent geological data, including geochemical soil samples and magnetic surveys, highlight a promising 2-kilometer stratigraphic section containing zinc and lead deposits accompanied by notable magnetic and gravity anomalies. Prior drilling indicated substantive zinc and lead mineralization, prompting further exploration.
The company continues to leverage its extensive dataset to optimize future drilling, aided by provincial government grants under the Junior Exploration Assistance program. The program was suspended due to weather conditions but aims to capitalize on identified anomalies when resumed.
