Vossloh to Supply Railway Project in Tanzania
Vossloh AG has secured a contract to provide turnouts and fastening systems for a new railway line in Tanzania. The railway will link the coastal city of Dar es Salaam to Lake Victoria in the country's interior. Vossloh will handle sections 3 and 4, valued at approximately 30 million euros.
The project involves the Makutupora-Tabora and Tabora-Isaka sections, spanning 424 kilometers. Vossloh is tasked with supplying 130 turnouts and 840,000 sleeper sets. Production will occur in Ystad, Sweden, and Werdohl, Germany. This railway is part of a larger initiative to develop an electrified standard-gauge rail system, aiming to reduce travel times and boost regional trade.
The construction is managed by Yapi Merkezi for the Tanzania Railways Corporation. Vossloh's CEO, Oliver Schuster, expressed pride in contributing to East Africa's development.
