The Vicat Group Secures GPID Grant for VAIA Project
Vicat Group's VAIA project, aimed at substantial CO2 capture and storage, has received a prestigious "Grand Projets Industriels de Décarbonation" (GPID) grant from the French government. This comes after recognition from the European Innovation Fund program in November 2025.
The GPID grant is a crucial step for the VAIA project, with the final investment decision expected in 2027. The initiative plans to capture 1.2 million tons of CO2 annually at the Montalieu-Vercieu cement plant, France's largest. It will establish a new value chain in the Rhône Valley focused on capturing, transporting, using, and liquefying CO2 for storage.
This grant aligns with France’s Major Investment Plans, promoting ecological and industrial transitions through innovative projects that modernize infrastructure and enhance sector competitiveness.
