Veolia and Amazon Collaborate on Reclaimed Water for Data Center Cooling
Veolia has partnered with Amazon to develop reclaimed water systems for data center cooling, aiming to advance sustainable infrastructure strategies. This collaboration aligns with Amazon's goal to become water-positive by 2030 and Veolia's Green Up program focusing on resource preservation.
The first facility, operational by 2027 in Mississippi, will use containerized treatment systems to convert wastewater for cooling. This system will recycle over 83 million gallons annually, equivalent to the water use of about 760 U.S. homes, reducing dependency on local groundwater.
Veolia's modular design allows scalability to Amazon's global facilities, promoting responsible water stewardship. The partnership also leverages Amazon Web Services for AI-enhanced water treatment solutions, optimizing efficiency and resource use globally.
