Veolia and Waga Energy Launch RNG Facility in Burgundy

On June 19, 2025, Veolia and Waga Energy inaugurated a new renewable natural gas (RNG) production facility at the Granges landfill in Burgundy, France. This facility, operating for several months, uses Waga Energy’s WAGABOX® technology to capture and upgrade landfill biogas, supplying over 3,000 households and preventing the emission of 3,300 metric tons of CO₂-equivalent annually.
The RNG unit connects to the local gas grid operated by GRDF via a newly built 4-kilometer pipeline. The project underscores the importance of the circular economy and aims to enhance energy independence within the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region.
This facility is part of a larger initiative by Veolia and Waga Energy, marking their sixth collaborative project in seven years, cumulatively preventing 40,000 metric tons of CO₂-equivalent emissions annually. The Granges facility replaces one of two combined heat and power engines, reinforcing sustainability and energy efficiency.
