Revocation of IXCHIQ® authorization in the United Kingdom: limited impact for Valneva

Valneva SE announced that the UK's Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has revoked the marketing authorization for its IXCHIQ® vaccine. This decision follows a reassessment by the Commission on Human Medicines (CHM) and is based on previously known safety data, with no new adverse indications.

Launched in mid-2025 in the UK, IXCHIQ® is no longer actively distributed due to low sales. Valneva does not anticipate any costs associated with a product recall, so the impact on revenue is expected to be negligible.

Assessments conducted by other agencies, including the EMA and Health Canada, have confirmed the continued authorization of IXCHIQ® in Europe and elsewhere. Valneva remains focused on expanding the vaccine's reach in areas at high risk of chikungunya.
