On July 7, 2026, Vallourec announced its decarbonization pathway has obtained certification from the Global Steel Climate Council (GSCC). This acknowledgement underscores the company's alignment with the internationally recognized GSCC Steel Climate Standard and its commitment to the Paris Agreement targets. Vallourec's certified 2021 baseline CASEI was at 1.70 metric tons of CO₂e per metric ton of hot-rolled steel, reduced to 1.16 tCO₂e per metric ton in 2025, surpassing the 2030 target of 1.20 tCO₂e.

Having pursued an ambitious climate strategy for over two decades, Vallourec accomplished its emissions reduction goals three years early and adopted a new pathway aligned with GSCC standards. The company aims to cut the carbon footprint of its finished tubes by 30% and reduce its overall emissions across Scope 1, 2, and 3 by 25% by 2030.

GSCC Executive Director, Adina Renee Adler, praised Vallourec’s role as the first certified member operating both integrated and electric arc furnace steel production. Vallourec's commitment is set to expand GSCC's outcomes-based approach and enhance industry-wide impacts.
