Ur-Energy Gains Authorization for Uranium Transport
Ur-Energy Inc. has secured final authorization from the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality to transport uranium-loaded resin from its Shirley Basin Project to the Lost Creek processing facility. This pivotal development marks the transition from limited to full-scale uranium in situ recovery operations. The approval follows a comprehensive inspection verifying adherence to safety and environmental standards.
Uranium recovery at Shirley Basin began in April 2026, with about 10,500 pounds of uranium loaded onto resin. Shipments to Lost Creek will commence soon, as operations scale up to commercial levels. The strategy leverages Lost Creek's existing infrastructure, enhancing capital efficiency.
Matthew Gili, CEO, highlighted the importance of this milestone for Ur-Energy and its contribution to domestic uranium production. The company positions itself as a reliable U.S. producer, with two operational ISR assets meeting the country's growing uranium demand.
