TRATON GROUP Sees Decline in Vehicle Sales in Q1 2025
The TRATON GROUP reported a decrease in unit sales in the first quarter of 2025, delivering 73,100 vehicles, which represents a 10% drop compared to the same period last year. Despite the overall decline, sales of all-electric vehicles saw a significant rise. The previous year's high order backlog had temporarily boosted sales. However, the current challenging market conditions have impacted performance.
Scania, part of the TRATON GROUP, experienced a 16% reduction in sales, while MAN Truck & Bus saw a 14% decrease. These European brands were hit by continued subdued demand. Meanwhile, International Motors noted a 12% decline in unit sales in the US, largely due to low transportation activity and market uncertainties.
On a positive note, Volkswagen Truck & Bus increased its sales by 16%, primarily driven by the strong Brazilian truck market. However, there's a slowing trend due to economic challenges. The Argentinian market, in contrast, showed positive signs for both Scania and Volkswagen Truck & Bus.
