Thyssenkrupp Nucera Powers Green Hydrogen Expansion in Southern Europe
Thyssenkrupp Nucera has finalized a 300 MW contract with Moeve to supply alkaline water electrolysis technology for the Onuba project in Huelva, Spain. This initiative, part of Moeve's Andalusian Green Hydrogen Valley, aims to produce approximately 45,000 tons of green hydrogen annually.
The collaboration represents a milestone in green hydrogen development, marking Moeve's final investment decision in March 2026. The project is set to reduce CO₂ emissions by about 250,000 tons each year, utilizing Southern Spain's solar and wind resources to create one of Europe's largest green hydrogen hubs.
Dr. Werner Ponikwar, CEO of Thyssenkrupp Nucera, highlighted the significance of this agreement in advancing hydrogen production capabilities. This strategic partnership demonstrates the potential for large-scale green hydrogen projects in Europe, providing a clean energy solution through advanced electrolysis technology.
