2025 Chengdu International Friendship Cities Forum Launches
The 2025 Chengdu International Friendship Cities Cooperation and Development Forum started on April 16, hosted by the Chengdu Municipal People's Government. Chengdu's strategic role as a hub for Belgium to access Western China markets was noted by Mr. Dewit of the Belgian-Chinese Chamber of Commerce. Key sectors include pharmaceuticals and technology, with new cargo flights and planned passenger flights strengthening ties.
Chengdu has built a network of 241 sister cities since 1981, supporting economic and cultural exchanges. Significant EU ties include the "2025 Chengdu * European Cultural Season" and trade relations, with import-export volumes reaching 142.16 billion yuan in 2024. Chengdu has formalized partnerships with several EU cities, promoting mutual development and innovation.
