Thai Night 2025: a showcase for Thai cinema in Cannes
The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), under the Thai Ministry of Commerce, brilliantly showcased the country's film industry at "Thai Night 2025" in Cannes on May 15, 2025. The event, chaired by Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya Sirivadhana Barnavadi, welcomed more than 300 figures from the international film industry.
The year 2024 marked a milestone for Thai cinema, with domestic revenue surpassing one billion baht for the first time. This achievement underscores the global competitiveness of Thai films, which now account for nearly 50% of the local market. The success of 2024 can be attributed to innovation and the diversity of genres on offer.
Additionally, the DITP established the Thai Pavilion in Cannes, facilitating collaboration between Thai creators and their international colleagues. This initiative demonstrates Thailand's ambition to increase its influence on the global film scene.
