TCMA Advances Thailand's Cement Industry Toward Net Zero 2050
The Thai Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMA) celebrates a pivotal national milestone in promoting the decarbonization of Thailand's cement industry, aiming for Net Zero by 2050. This progress emerges from effective collaboration among government bodies, industry players, and international organizations under the "Decarbonization of the Cement and Concrete Sectors in Thailand" initiative. The project is backed by an $8 million investment from the Canadian government.
Dr. Chana Poomee, Honorary Chairman of TCMA, emphasizes the strategic importance of this venture, noting that it enhances the industry's competitiveness through policy development, technology deployment, and innovation. A notable technological innovation includes the Mobile Carbon Capture Unit from Canada, set to undergo pilot testing in June.
The investment enhances confidence and attracts green investment, vital for Thailand's sustainable economic growth. Furthermore, TCMA's regional collaboration through the ASEAN Federation of Cement Manufacturers aims to lower carbon emissions, strengthening regional standards and capabilities.
