Technological openness in Switzerland: a call for adaptation
On December 16, auto-suisse welcomed the European Commission's response regarding the automotive industry, emphasizing the need for adaptation in Switzerland as well. The organization believes this adjustment reflects a realistic assessment of the impossibility of a complete transition to electric mobility by 2035. According to auto-suisse, Bern must also adapt and adjust its regulations, which it considers too strict, to support the domestic automotive industry.
The president of auto-suisse, Peter Grünenfelder, advocates for a more open and technologically diverse policy that stimulates the development of new technologies. In his view, this includes more accessible charging infrastructure and the promotion of affordable electricity, crucial elements for achieving Switzerland's climate goals while supporting jobs and the many households dependent on cars.
