TCMA Collaborates with Chulalongkorn University for Low-Carbon Goals
Thai Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMA) has partnered with Chulalongkorn University to further its low-carbon initiatives. Through a Memorandum of Understanding, the collaboration aims to develop and test carbon capture technologies in the SARABURI SANDBOX, with support from international partners like Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC). This effort aligns with Thailand's 2050 Net Zero target, marking a pivotal step in the nation's industrial ecosystem.
Mr. Surachai Nimla-or, TCMA Chairman, emphasized the role of public-private partnerships in advancing climate commitments. The initiative brings together industry, academia, and governments to foster a low-carbon cement industry. Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat of Chulalongkorn University echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of bridging research with real-world applications.
Canada’s Ambassador, H.E. Ping Kitnikone, and Thailand’s government officials expressed strong support, describing the project as crucial for national greenhouse gas reduction strategies. The initiative complements Thailand’s “One MIND” policy to balance regulation with green industry promotion.
