AI Scaling Crisis: Legacy Systems Hinder Enterprise Growth

A new report by Tata Communications and Bloomberg Media Studios highlights a pressing issue: while artificial intelligence (AI) is prioritized at the board level by 77% of global enterprises, many still rely on outdated infrastructures. This reliance poses challenges in scaling AI due to existing tech debt.

The report, "Building Durable AI Advantage," notes that only 29% of organizations have infrastructure robust enough to meet increasing AI demands. The study surveyed 501 executives across North America, Europe, and Asia, revealing gaps in five critical areas: infrastructure modernisation, system integration, specialized skills, governance, and ROI visibility.

Key challenges include the difficulty of integrating AI with legacy systems, cited by 28% of executives, and a shortage of specialized talent, affecting 30% of enterprises. Despite modernization efforts, optimal outcomes remain elusive for many organizations.
