Swiss Re Reports 9% Increase in Net Income for H1 2026
Swiss Re announced a net income of USD 2.8 billion for the first half of 2026, marking a 9% increase year-on-year. This growth was driven by robust contributions across all Business Units, keeping the company on track for its USD 4.5 billion full-year target.
The Property & Casualty Reinsurance (P&C Re) segment saw an 18% rise in net income to USD 1.4 billion, with a combined ratio of 76.7%. The Life & Health Reinsurance (L&H Re) unit reported a 21% increase in net income to USD 1.0 billion, benefiting from favorable US mortality trends.
The Corporate Solutions arm delivered a 14% increase in net income to USD 490 million. The overall Return on Investments stood at 4.0%, with recurring income yield slightly up at 4.2%.
Swiss Re has updated its operating cost reduction target to USD 500 million by 2028. The company also maintains a strong capital position with a Swiss Solvency Test ratio of 264% as of July 2026.
