Steyr Motors Expands with BUKH Acquisition
Steyr Motors AG has strategically acquired BUKH, a marine engine specialist from Denmark. This move aims to enhance Steyr's position as a mission-critical propulsion specialist without losing its core identity. The acquisition is part of Steyr's broader strategy to expand its offerings in the high-reliability and defense sectors.
In 2025, BUKH reported €10 million in sales with a 10% EBIT margin. The purchase price is estimated between €4-7 million, making it a financially sound decision for Steyr. The acquisition will broaden Steyr's marine power range to 24-700hp and open new opportunities in unmanned surface vessels (USVs).
The deal is expected to improve Steyr's participation in tenders, especially where wide power spectrum solutions are required. Additionally, BUKH brings added scale to Steyr’s SOLAS activities, crucial for lifeboat engines.
This acquisition should support Steyr's growth ambitions, pending further details about the transaction.
