Southern Energy Corp. Reports Q1 2026 Financial Results and New JV
Southern Energy Corp., a natural gas and light oil producer in Mississippi, reported its Q1 2026 financial and operating results. A key development was the completion of a $22 million financing transaction, allowing the company to repay its senior credit facility and reduce annual interest from 15% to 7%. The company emerged with no senior bank debt and set maturity to December 2028.
During Q1 2026, Southern recorded petroleum and natural gas sales of $5.5 million, a 8% increase from the previous year. The company achieved an average realized natural gas price of $5.82/Mcf, reflecting a 16% premium over the NYMEX Henry Hub benchmark. Average production decreased 21% year-on-year, impacted by a third-party pipeline dispute.
Southern announced a joint venture with a strategic partner to evaluate the Cotton Valley oil prospect, aiming to reduce capital exposure and test the resource at multiple locations. Approvals are in place to begin drilling by late July.
