Sonae Achieves Record Sales Growth of €11.4 Billion in 2025
Sonae, a diversified Portuguese multinational, reported a significant 14.2% increase in sales for 2025, reaching €11.4 billion. This growth was driven by robust retail performance and strategic acquisitions over two years. Key financial metrics also showed improvement, with underlying EBITDA rising 23.6% to €1.1 billion, total EBITDA up 17.6% to €1.2 billion, and net profits growing 11% to €247 million. Additionally, the company's share price surged by 76%.
The retail segment saw Sonae's brands maintaining leadership in various European markets. MC, the leading food retailer in Portugal, expanded its footprint with Continente brand stores. In health and beauty, Sonae leads in both Portugal and Spain through Wells and a joint venture between Druni and Arenal. Electronics retail, led by Worten and iServices, also played a crucial role.
Beyond retail, Sonae's real estate arm, Sierra, expanded globally, including acquiring a division of Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield. In technology, Bright Pixel focused on retail, telecommunications, and cybersecurity innovations.
