Completion of Offshore Substations Darß and Zingst
Skyborn Renewables GmbH announced the successful installation of the offshore substations Darß and Zingst in the German Baltic Sea. These substations are crucial for the Gennaker offshore wind farm project, marking an important milestone. They will convert electricity from 66kV to 220kV for transmission to the German power grid.
The installation involved the Pioneering Spirit vessel, highlighting the scale and technical challenges of this project. The wind farm will feature 63 wind turbines with a capacity of 976.5 MW, producing approximately 3.8 TWh annually. Once complete, it will be the largest offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea, supplying power to about a million households.
