Shanghai Electric Sets Record with Biomethanol Bunkering

Shanghai Electric Company, in collaboration with Shanghai International Port Group and CMA CGM Group, achieved a milestone on August 17 with the largest single biomethanol bunkering operation. The operation, held at Shanghai Yangshan Port, involved a record 8,000 metric tons of biomethanol.

The biomethanol was supplied by Shanghai Electric's Taonan green methanol project, which leverages Jilin's renewable resources. This marks a significant step forward for Shanghai's green fuel supply chain, launched alongside Jilin and Liaoning to create a north-to-south methanol transport corridor.

Shanghai Electric's project is a world leader, combining green electricity and biomass for biomethanol production, meeting the needs of international shipping. The company continues to enhance its industrial chain in green fuels, aiming to support China's carbon goals and global energy transitions.
