Schafhöfen Solar Park Underway, One of Germany's Largest

Blue Elephant Energy GmbH (BEE) has initiated the construction of the Schafhöfen solar park in Mötzing, one of Germany's largest photovoltaic projects. With a capacity of approximately 268 megawatts peak, the project marks a significant development in the region's renewable energy landscape. Key attendees at the groundbreaking included representatives from Commerzbank, Deutsche Bahn, and construction partners GOLDBECK SOLAR and Bayernwerk.

BEE CEO Felix Goedhart emphasized the project's swift progression to the construction phase, attributing success to local authorities' support. Bayernwerk Netz's Managing Director Dr. Nick Seeger highlighted the project's importance in renewable energy integration. The solar park is expected to operate by September 2027, producing 296,000 megawatt-hours annually, sufficient for powering 147,000 households or Deutsche Bahn's ICE trains, reducing CO₂ emissions by 200,000 tons annually.

The development aligns with BEE's ESG goals and promises economic benefits for the region. The project aims to play a vital role in Germany's energy transition, contributing significantly to domestic energy resilience.
