Sandoz Gains Approval for Semaglutide Treatment in Brazil

Sandoz Group AG announced the regulatory approval of Owozy® (semaglutide) by ANVISA, Brazil's health surveillance agency. This approval allows Sandoz to market this new treatment for type-2 diabetes in Brazil, marking a significant step in addressing the public health challenge posed by the disease.

The company aims to launch Owozy®, a pre-filled multi-dose pen, in the latter half of 2026 with its partner, Adalvo. Sandoz anticipates this new treatment to support Brazil's healthcare infrastructure and broaden access to diabetes medications within a USD 1.8 billion market.

CEO Richard Saynor expressed that this development brings Sandoz closer to providing high-quality diabetes treatment options, in line with their goal of expanding access to affordable medicines. Approximately 16.5 million Brazilians live with diabetes, highlighting the urgent need for innovative and accessible solutions.
