ROHM Unveils Advanced Terahertz Wave Oscillation Device
KYOTO, Japan - ROHM Co., Ltd. has introduced its 2nd-generation terahertz wave oscillation device, boasting four times the output power of its predecessor. Utilizing resonant tunneling diodes (RTDs), the device comes with an evaluation kit, facilitating testing in compact environments for companies and research institutions.
Terahertz waves, sitting between radio waves and light, are promising for non-destructive testing, medical applications, and radar sensing. Historically, large equipment and costs hindered entry into this field. ROHM's device addresses these barriers with a compact design that remains cost-effective.
Maintaining the previous model's size, the new device achieves a maximum output of 40 microwatts. It enhances terahertz wave detection, making it apt for applications needing high signal quality. This innovation allows even space-constrained environments to build evaluation setups efficiently.
