Ridgewood Infrastructure Acquires Sierra Railroad Company
Ridgewood Infrastructure, a prominent investment firm in the United States, announced the acquisition of a controlling interest in Sierra Railroad Company. Based in California, Sierra provides essential freight rail, switching, storage, and transloading services essential to industrial, agricultural, and energy supply chains.
As part of this strategic move, Sierra is acquiring Central Valley Ag Transport, expanding its reach in the agricultural sector. Sierra Northern Railway, one of Sierra's key subsidiaries, manages approximately 130 miles of track, enhancing connectivity in major industrial and agricultural regions in California.
The deal strengthens Sierra's infrastructure, especially through Railpower, Inc., which operates a hydrogen-powered locomotive, showcasing leadership in zero-emissions technology. Ridgewood Infrastructure aims to boost freight volumes and expand capabilities, citing sector expertise and growth potential as key motivators for the partnership.
