Rexel to Acquire US Specialty Provider GCG
Rexel has unveiled plans to acquire GCG, a US-based specialty infrastructure provider, in a move that will significantly boost its American presence. The acquisition, valued at approximately $1.4 billion, is expected to enhance Rexel's strategic roadmap by integrating GCG’s high-growth segments and customer service prowess. GCG is anticipated to generate around $1.1 billion in sales by 2026, leveraging its wide array of services in critical infrastructure solutions.
The acquisition aligns with Rexel’s strategy to amplify its operations in core markets. Financially, the deal is structured to adhere to strict criteria, with EPS accretion expected in the first year and value creation by the third. Rexel aims to fund the purchase through cash, debt, and a potential equity raise of €500 million to sustain balance-sheet flexibility.
With unanimous approval from Rexel’s Board, the transaction is set to close by year-end.
