Revive Therapeutics Announce Positive Study Results on Bucillamine for Nerve-Agent Exposure

Revive Therapeutics Ltd. reported encouraging results from a study by Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) on bucillamine for nerve-agent exposure. The study, comparing bucillamine with N-acetylcysteine (NAC), focused on clinical signs, seizure activity, and GABA receptor signaling in an animal model.

Both bucillamine and NAC showed preservation of hippocampal GABA receptor density. Notably, while pulmonary hemorrhage occurred in NAC-treated subjects, it was absent in animals treated with bucillamine.

Revive's CEO, Michael Frank, highlighted these results as foundational for further exploring bucillamine's role in biodefence and pandemic preparedness. DRDC plans additional studies to evaluate its broader effects, potentially opening avenues for collaboration with government and defence entities.
