RCU Initiates Archaeology Season 2026-2027 in AlUla and Khaybar

The Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) has begun its 2026-2027 Archaeology Season, uniting Saudi and global teams to further study AlUla and Khaybar's historical landscape. The focus is on deepening knowledge of northwest Arabia's heritage, from ancient societies to modern conservation.

Current efforts emphasize themes such as early human habitation, oasis societies, and pilgrimage routes. Significant attention is on ongoing projects in Hegra and Dadan, continuing excavation and analysis to understand their historical significance better. In Khaybar, research spans from the Neolithic to the Islamic era, focusing on natural resource interactions and cultural evolution.

RCU is committed to fostering Saudi talent in archaeology, offering community engagement and educational workshops. These initiatives aim to share AlUla's heritage widely, supporting exhibitions and public storytelling ventures.
