Lumibird's strategic strengthening in laser technologies
In a strategic effort to reaffirm its leadership, Lumibird announces the sale of its 37% stake in Cilas, while establishing a long-term industrial partnership. This move comes amid increased defense investment in Europe. The group also plans to acquire Cilas's Laser MégaJoule maintenance activities, thereby strengthening its already recognized expertise with the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA).
This initiative aims to optimize the French laser industry by clarifying industrial roles. The new agreements allow Lumibird to position itself as a key technology partner, particularly for major French defense integrators. The acquisition brings a team of 18 experts, thus complementing the group's capabilities in scientific research and defense programs.
If approved, the transaction is expected to be finalized by the end of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals. Lumibird aims to consolidate its expertise in high-value-added laser technologies and to actively participate in the development of sovereign technologies for French and European programs.
