Lumibird Medical Expands into Southeast Asia with Acquisition

Lumibird Group, a leader in laser technologies, has announced that its subsidiary, Lumibird Medical, will acquire BIZ MEDIC SDN BHD. Based in Kuala Lumpur, this acquisition marks the foundation of Lumibird Medical Southeast Asia, aiming to be a key growth hub in ophthalmology for the Asia Pacific market.

This transition from distribution to direct operations underlines Lumibird's commitment to the region, which faces high clinical demand due to prevalent vision impairments such as myopia and diseases like glaucoma.

The new office, replacing the Thailand representative office and India subsidiary, will consolidate operations, enhancing services across Southeast Asia. This move aligns with Lumibird Medical's global strategy, emphasizing proximity to customers and addressing unmet needs in this populous region.

The acquisition is subject to regulatory approvals and will unify the distribution of the Quantel Medical, Optotek Medical, and Ellex portfolios.
